APAC Quality & Compliance Manager
Purpose of the Job
The Central Sourcing Office role is distinct from that of the operational buyers located at client sites. Our role is to facilitate product procurement from China on behalf of the buyers and managers in countries/regions for HH Global and their clients.
This role will predominately support the Central Sourcing Office but will also be a Subject Matter Expert for teams supporting clients based in the APAC region.
The role is for a seasoned candidate to define quality and product compliance standards and ensure they are agreed with both the supply base and client stakeholders. Then liaise with our 3rd parties to control, keep and report the quality and product compliance standards on behalf of FMCG/Retail brands to a high standard.
The candidate will have significant knowledge in QA process, product test protocols, retail and FMCG industry and complex manufacturing (understand production tolerance).
Role reports into Global Quality Lead, Branded Merchandise, this role can be either based in Shenzhen or Hong Kong.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure product specifications conform and comply with legal and company requirements, and are fit for customer’s needs
- Align supplier’s ability with client expectations, anticipate any issues that may arise due to tolerance in the production process or technical difficulties
- Develop and maintain QA SOP’s for each client sector aligned with HH Global Quality policy
- Develop appropriate QA documentation for each project and have it signed off by both the client and the supplier
- Liaise with our 3rd party QC service providers to ensure smooth QA process
- Strictly follow the company’s QC process to ensure finished goods meet client expectations
- Ensure compliance of all stakeholders within the defined process
- Project development/ QA process definition
- Evaluate new products to ensure that they comply with safety, legal and the company’s requirements, and are fit for customer’s need
- Discuss, design and update the product specifications and Quality Assurance Plan with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure the product specifications are fully understood by all stakeholders
- Ensure quality procedures are fully understood and implemented by vendors, 3rd party testing and inspection agents
- Ensure the Products / Packaging hold the necessary markings for legal compliance for recipient countries
- Pro-actively work on new legislative requirements, new materials, including sustainable requirements and certification
- Liaise with vendors and 3rd party testing lab
- Prototype approval and production
- Create a risk assessment (RA) based on the prototype. Ensure RA report is issued for every prototype.
- Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the assigned QA tasks are completed on-time
- Define and setup the final inspection plan and manufacturing tests during mass production, and ensure the inspection agents and suppliers understand the company’s requirements and how to operate
- Lesson learnt / continuous improvement
- Investigate customer complaints, identify corrective actions at technical aspects and work with vendors to implement
- Define and follow up the agreed corrective action and improvement plan
- Evaluate pre-shipment inspection results and determine the disposition of products while communicating with inspection agents, vendors, and Category Manager
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
- A minimum of 5 years work experience in quality and product compliance field experience within the POSM marketplace
- Quality engineering education background is beneficial
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Strong knowledge in ISO quality system and QA and QC systems
- Experience with safety and regulatory compliance standards
- Strong communication and influencing skills working alongside Category Manager and Industrial Designer to assess safety and compliance risks during the product development phase
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to develop realistic and comprehensive timetables
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and be a good team player
- Experience working in a global organisation and supporting the global team
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Fluent English and Mandarin
- Exceptional personal integrity
- Travel required
