Account Manager
Purpose of the job
The Head of Regulatory Compliance will lead and oversee HH Global’s compliance framework to ensure adherence to evolving global legislations, regulations and industry standards. This role will liaise with multiple teams across our business from client engagement to legal, to aggregate new information, prepare reports and roll out new projects and initiatives globally.
The role will have a heavy focus on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). As the Head of Regulatory Compliance, you will continue to build on the progress made and work with our strategic supplier partners to ensure commitment and compliance to these mandated requirements for conducting business within the European Union.
The ideal candidate will have a strong compliance background in the manufacturing of consumer products and/or associated raw materials (steel, paper, wood, electrical components etc). This role is critical in ensuring our operations align with the current and emerging legislations while upholding the highest ethical standards.
The role will report to the Vice President, Global Supplier Governance.
Key responsibilities
- Track and interpret evolving legislation, with emphasis on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) on packaging, European Union Battery Regulation (EUBR), Corporate Social Due Diligence (CSDD) and other relevant international, regional and local regulations to ensure business readiness
- Ensure that HH Global’s compliance policies and procedures are up to date and effectively implemented across our business – identify and analyse key controls associated with regulatory compliance risks
- Develop, refine, and oversee processes to ensure compliance with the regulations, including raw material sourcing, traceability and reporting
- Work with supplier partners and internal teams to ensure robust due diligence systems are in place for deforestation risk management
- Ensure regulatory and policy requirements are applied during supplier approval process
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including client engagement, strategic sourcing, business operations, training and legal to ensure a unified approach to compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies, auditors and industry groups
- Lead internal audits to assess adherence to regulatory requirements and corporate compliance standards
- Ensure timely reporting and documentation to demonstrate compliance with relevant authorities
- Prepare and present compliance reports as well as data and performance metrics to senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Develop policy guidelines and standards that are clear and accessible to our colleagues
- Compliance governance and ethical leadership – be a key member of HH Global’s risk committee
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
- Extensive experience in a senior compliance role, leading teams across multiple geographies
- Experience gained within manufacturing industry of raw materials and/ or consumer products and their supply chains, such as papermills, steel, wood, electronic components is preferred
- Proven expertise in environmental regulations with specific experience in European Union regulation compliance
- Certification in compliance or environmental law e.g. Certified Compliance + Ethics Professional – International (CCEP-I)
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, supply chain due diligence and ESG practises
- Excellent analytical skills to assess upcoming regulatory changes and their implications
- Understanding of IP and patents
- Effective communication, naturally able to build and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholders of a senior level
- Sound leadership abilities to influence and guide cross functional teams and manage complex projects
- Proficiency in compliance management software and reporting tools
- Adaptability to evolving regulatory landscapes
- Strong commitment to ethical practises and sustainability
