Laboratory Services - Laboratory Technician
The Laboratory Technician will provide assistance to the Laboratory & Operations. This person provides technical development and support, instrument set up and maintenance for methods common to our industry. They also perform lab tests on in-process analytical data for laboratory reports and communicate variations from quality standards to the appropriate Quality Control and Production personnel, while conducting special testing of an investigative nature to react to problems in the malting process. Full time, day or evening shifts schedule Monday-Friday or Sunday-Thursday with occasional holidays, overtime, and other shifts as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform malt and barley analysis in accordance with established methods and procedures in order to maintain product quality and compliance with customer specifications.
- Perform advanced analytical and instrumentation techniques.
- Maintain integrity and calibration of laboratory instruments and troubleshoot technical problems in the laboratory.
- Accumulate and process data for lab reports and communicate quality variations to appropriate QA personnel.
- Maintain integrity of all laboratory records.
- Actively participate in developing and maintaining QA Systems encompassing the quality principles outlined by the International Standards Organization, with emphasis on documentation and preparation of SOP’s.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
- Complete general quality control and laboratory related tasks as directed.
- Order and receive laboratory supplies. Maintain appropriate documentation.
- Interact with all plant departments to facilitate the quality control function.
- Perform all other duties or special assignments that are deemed necessary.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be proficient in the use of a computer; plus, experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify potential solutions.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with supervisors, co-workers and customers.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices is desired.
- Thorough knowledge of HACCP is desired.
- Knowledge of and commitment to general safety procedures in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of or experience in the malting and/or brewing industry is a huge plus.
- Prefer minimum of 1-year experience working in an analytical lab with advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Exposure to a laboratory environment within the previous 2 years is a preferred.
- Previous experience running advanced analytical instrumentation is desired
- Preferred candidate will have completed a minimum of 2 years towards a Biology or Chemistry degree program within the past 5 years, or equivalent combination of education and experience
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate of $20.04- $30.06 per hour
Based on their education, training/skill, and experience, as applicable.
