Maintenance Technician - Arbroath
JOB TITLE: Maintenance Engineer Mechanical - Multiskilled
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

LOCATION: Arbroath
HOURS:
43hrs per week comprising of Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm and Friday 06:00 to 17:30 30-minute unpaid break
On-call rota requirement, one week in five, which operates from Friday at 4.30pm to Friday at 4.30pm
SUMMARY OF JOB:
Responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of all plant equipment to ensure the required levels of malt production are achieved, in accordance with GMP, all trade related legislation and best practice. Provide call out cover for out of hours breakdowns, on a rota-based system. Be flexible to aid all on-site personnel as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out planned mechanical and reactive maintenance tasks at the Arbroath site
- Contribute to 6S efficiency improvements around all areas of the site
- Contribute to continuous improvement on site by maintaining a vigilant approach to your work, identifying, and reporting any areas of interest to site management
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests.
- Complete maintenance paperwork in line with company procedures and CMMS.
- Recommend improvements to the operation of equipment, where appropriate.
- Contribute to the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant, where appropriate.
- Assist, with due regard to competence, capability and knowledge, site staff and contractors as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications:
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or relevant degree).
- Minimum 3 years’ mechanical maintenance experience.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multi-skilled engineering team.
- Welding experience is advantageous but not essential.
Skills/Abilities:
- Pneumatic fault finding
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Electrical fault finding knowledge
- Working knowledge of PLC systems
- Welding, MIG, TIG, Arc

Working Knowledge:
- Desirable knowledge, Material Handling Systems, Bucket Elevators, Belt Conveyors, Screws, Diverters etc.
- ATEX Regulations, Ratings and Zoning of areas
- PLC systems
- Motors, Inverter Drives, Soft Start systems
- Gearboxes and drive gear
- Bearings
- Basic understanding of Malting processes would be advantageous
