Summary
Freedom's Major Projects & Connections team have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Manager. The main purpose of the role will be to support the Project Managers to manage the GLP works programme for the Islington and West Ham Cable Routes.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- To Assist Project Managers in all West Ham and Islington cable works, ensuring that work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures and client specifications;
- Ensure compliance with all streetworks regulations;
- Maintaining a full programme of works ensuring all operatives work to their full productivity levels;
- Ensure all project documentation is submitted to Project Managers in a timely manner;
- Liaising with the client, sub-contractors, local authorities, third party stake holders and internal Freedom teams.
- Dealing with the general public as required
What we’re looking for:
- Helping deliver the GLP major project cable routes from Cradle to Grave safely, competently and effectively to time and budget;
- Supporting in the delivery of all site construction works including managing the sub-contractors on a daily basis.
- Supporting all financial aspects of projects, including the costing and invoicing of any additional works;
- Provide guidance to team members to ensure the safe, effective and efficient implementation of Freedom’s operations;
- Monitor and report on progress of work to the Project Managers as required;
- Provide guidance on and monitor your team’s approach to safety rules and procedures, method statements and risk assessments;
- Liaise with third parties to ensure the smooth implementation of work;
- Maintain site safety at all times and complete risk assessments;
- Report any concerns regarding SHE to the SHE team;
- Manage and review performance of staff reporting to you and identify training needs;
- Conduct site safety and 1 in 10 inspections and ensure remedial actions are undertaken;
- Ensure that all statutory records, certificates, licences, notifications and notices are in place;
- Prepare project Safety, CDM plans and Risk Assessments as part of the overall programme.
Requirements:
- Experience of project management/project planning;
- Knowledge of distribution HV networks in a street works environment.

- Sound understanding of the financial aspects of projects;
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and its practical implications;
- CDM knowledge;
- NVQ / ONC / HNC or above in a relevant subject;
- IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or other safety related qualification;
- NRSWA accredited;
- A formal project management qualification is preferred;
- UKPN experience and authorisations would be beneficial.
