Summary
By joining our OHL Transmission and Distribution team as a Project Manager you will have overall accountability for successful project delivery including planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/close out on OHL Projects. Our projects are site-based / UK Wide however at Freedom Group we welcome flexible working. This role is available full-time hybrid working.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Hold periodic project reviews with site teams and clients.
- Ensure reports provide relevant information to enable decisions to be made
which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall business strategy - Prepare and present both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Ability to interrogate designs and challenge inputs and deliverables

Health, Safety & Environmental - Forecast cost and resource requirements.
- Ensure a relentless focus on Health and Safety & keep up to date with changes in
legislation - Carry out Safety & Environmental audits.
- Lead Accident/Incident Investigations and monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement actions
- Lead on reviewing RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS
- Develop H&S plans and ensure it is treated as a live document and ensure sufficiency and competency of workforce
- Coordinate and manage all project activities and internal functions and identify and control resource to deliver works
- Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with
internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the
team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and
performance management. - Lead risk/opportunity reviews, ownership of the Risk Register and
recommend/implement changes. Log and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved at delegated level of authority - Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and
progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that
contractual arrangements are achieved. - Support and contribute with tenders and new work applications.
- Ensure Quality assurance activities are undertaken and take appropriate
action on findings and lead working groups on focused improvement areas. - Monitor progress and implement Short Interval Control processes/hold weekly
meetings and ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and client expectations. - Incorporate and balance both operational and commercial constraints into
decision making. - Support and contribute with tenders and new work applications.
What we’re looking for:
- 5 years’ experience managing projects.
- CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent
- Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
- In depth understanding and practical experience of standard forms of contracts
- Planning and programming experience.
- Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Formal qualification in project management (APM)
- Experience managing DNO projects.
- IOSH / NEBOSH
