Lead PHP Developer
Purpose of the Job
The Lead PHP Developer will be responsible for overseeing the architecture, design, and development of software components for a cloud-based, enterprise-scale product. This role includes technical leadership, cross-team coordination, and active participation in driving product and system evolution in collaboration with engineering, product, and DevOps teams. The Lead PHP Developer will serve as a key technical authority, mentoring developers, aligning technology with business goals, and ensuring best practices across the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of PHP-based projects, from requirements analysis to deployment and support
- Manage and mentor a team of PHP developers, fostering skill development and high-quality delivery
- Collaborate closely with the product team to define, design, and prioritize new features
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable architectural solutions
- Drive cross-team collaboration on system architecture, ensuring cohesive design across the platform
- Provide guidance on technical decisions and oversee code quality, scalability, and maintainability
- Participate in and help implement test automation strategies, ensuring quality across releasesWork alongside DevOps engineers to plan and implement infrastructure and deployment improvements
- Continuously improve development and release processes, with a focus on CI/CD and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP)
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the team
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
- Strong professional PHP development experience, with strong knowledge of the Symfony framework
- Strong experience in leading development teams and projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL and experience in designing data-driven applications
- Strong experience in CI/CD pipelines and release management
- Hands-on Azure deployment and cloud infrastructure knowledge is a plus
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across technical and non-technical teams
- Proven ability to design scalable architecture and guide teams in implementation
- Experience in test automation practices and tools is an advantage
